Are they dogs? Are they rats? We just can’t tell!! Ratatouille and Ratamonga came to SNIPSA from Bexar County in desperate need of some TLC. They arrived with little to no fur, which is how they earned their rat-like names. The cause for their hair loss was demodex mange, non-contagious mange that has been quickly cleared up with a dose of Nexgard and weekly medicated baths. Now, their hair has mostly grown back and they are once again resembling normal, healthy pups!

This pair has been through a lot, but it’s clear they’re ready to love again. Despite being a little wary upon arrival, they have come out of their shells very quickly in their foster homes. So far, we’ve learned that they enjoy exploring in the backyard, snuggling up on soft pillows and playing with other canines. They are friendly with humans and have even proved themselves to be tolerant of children. Plus, they have just about mastered their potty training! These friends are sure to stay on the smaller side, being Chihuahua mixes. Due to their portable size, they will fit into just about any home and will also be able to accompany you on all of your trips around town. Chihuahuas are generally great family dogs that require a minimum of attention and exercise to keep them happy.
