Sarah Israel, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Israel is a native Texan that received her DVM from Texas A&M University in 2005 and completed her residency in small animal surgery at Texas A&M University in 2009.
Dr. Israelโs passion for veterinary medicine was fostered as a young child where she grew up with a variety of animals including goats, chickens, horses, dogs, and everything in between. She works at Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital and has performed numerous orthopedic and life-saving surgical procedures for SNIPSA rescues. Her specialty is total hip replacements which is a refined and sought-after skill. She married her โsweetheartโ from veterinary school who also owns and operates two veterinary hospitals in the Helotes area. She is the proud mother of two children who enjoy spending time outdoors in nature. She can be found riding her beloved horse, Pearl, with her daughter or fishing in Rockport with her son and husband. Dr. Israel is a faithful surgeon at our Big Fix clinics and a practical sounding board for our organization.

Well, weโve got our very own Napoleon Dynamite in the building. Meet Scout! ๐ Just like Napoleon, Scout can be a little shy on the approach, but he was born to be in the spotlight. He loves attention, walks, treats andโmore than anythingโhis people! In his foster home, Scout hasnโt wasted any time bonding with his foster family. He is a perfect shadow, following his foster mom everywhere she goes with enthusiasm. This little busybody also enjoys his โwalkiesโ where he can feel the grass on his paws. Not to mention, heโs perfectly house-trained, which makes that outside time extra special! ๐ฑ
One thing to note about Scout is that he is thought to have been hit by a car at some point in his life, resulting in a luxated hip. He underwent a femoral head ostectomy to repair it, resulting in a slightly higher adoption fee. While Scout has been through a lot in his two years, he has a happy and healthy future just ahead. ๐ค He recently made his debut at the King William Parade where he stole more than just a few hearts. Saturday morning, our rescues were walked, carried and given allll the kisses during the King William Parade. Our Shoe litter also made their debut at Therapy Animals of San Antonioโs 26th Annual Pooch Parade! We had such a great time partying with our San Antonio community, showing off our pups and selling the last of our 2024 Fiesta medals. A HUGE thank you to the staff and volunteers who rose at the crack of dawn to spread some puppy love! ๐๐๐พ
