SNIPSA is an organization formed by a group of veterinarians and caring individuals dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted animals in San Antonio and the surrounding area.
At SNIPSA, we don’t have a traditional shelter; instead, we rely on compassionate foster families, like Jo and her three of many fosters, who open their homes and hearts to animals in need. Fostering creates genuine transformation, helping frightened and overlooked animals thrive.
Dylan, who faced instability after losing his owner, became confident through his foster family’s patience and routines, ultimately finding his forever home. Major waited over 500 days for someone to see past his anxiety, but with the steady support of his foster home (and some pool time) he learned to relax and was adopted as a professional trail dog.
Sonny, affectionately known as “Wrinkle,” arrived with the scars of neglect. Initially shy, he blossomed into a happy dog, now wagging his tail and engaging with others in his loving forever family.

They say the best view comes after the hardest climb, and we are hoping that is true.
We are Alaska and Denali, two of the sweetest sisters abandoned at a local apartment complex. We were discovered by an animal lover who fed us breakfast tacos before bringing us into her care… What can we say? We have refined taste! Here is what our caring foster has noted about us since being in her care:
We are highly intelligent, typical of the shepherd breed!
Denali, that’s me! I am historically loyal and loving, especially with my sister, Alaska. I was previously attacked by a coyote, the likely cause of my scarred nose.
Alaska is the name! I am a little more on the silly side; I go with the flow and tend to follow my sister’s lead.
Together, we are both very gentle, low-key, and affectionate towards humans, despite being unhoused for months and months.
We have had tough times and our fair share of mountains to climb. We are ready to find our base camp. Could that be with you?
