Mix Tapes and Mutts: Will your dog be the Face of the Race?

It’s that time of the year when we start our search for our annual Race for the Rescues mascot! Enter your dog and start their campaign to raise money for rescue animals in need.

The four-legged superstar who raises the most funds will be the official face of our 18th Annual Race for the Rescues 5K on September 27th. This is their opportunity to take center stage on this year’s race shirt, marketing materials, and more.

Ready to help your pup rise to the top for a great cause? Dust off those leg warmers, grab your boom box, and get ready to party like it’s 1985!

8 Reasons To Adopt A Large Dog

1. No concept of personal space - will be your shadow and always nearby for a squeeze.
2. Can share your wardrobe - matching outfits with your best friend?
3. Not a trip hazard- easier to spot!
4. Big dog, bigger heart - gentle giants with a lot of love to give!
5. Strangers take you seriously - who's gonna mess with that big, radiant sweetheart?
6. They don't mind squeezing into small spaces - Small bed? No problem!
7. Jumpstart to your exercise - will get you moving, whether you like it or not.
8. Great companions for outdoor adventures - can keep up on hikes, runs, and more!

No matter which of these reasons resonates with you, one thing is true, all dogs big or small, deserve a loving home with you.

Pet of the Week

Goober

Goobs, Goob man, Goob Goob, Mr. Goober, the GOOBINATOR! In just a short time, this boy has made a name for himself…or many. Goober is a little man who was found on the streets of Atascosa, Texas! Despite his small frame and unknown history, Goober is bursting with joyful personality. He spends his time running, playing, dancing around, getting pets, and lapping up all the attention he can get. Goober thrives around other dogs and his people – He is a total social butterfly. This guy is a WATER-LOVER, too…In foster care, we have learned that he loves to dance in the water hose, bite the sprinkler, and he is even a fan of bath time! After a fun romp, Goober enjoys cuddling up in his dog bed almost as much as he loves being in your lap. At eight months old, he is a young dog with a whole life of learning and adventure ahead of him. Goober would make a perfect boat buddy, travel companion, or fun-loving family pet. He is oh so silly by nature, and eager to please his new owners. Wanna take a chance on the Goobenmeister? Apply to meet this cutie!
