3 Reasons to Adopt An Adult Cat

Adult cats often get overlooked in favor of kittens, but they have just as much love (and way less chaos) to offer.

Here are 3 reasons to adopt an adult cat:

1. What you see is what you get: No surprises. You’ll know exactly what kind of companion you’re bringing home.

2. They’re lower maintenance: Older cats are litter trained, less destructive, and less likely to climb your curtains at three A.M. They’ve moved past the high-energy kitten phase, so you get to enjoy their calmer, more settled side.

3. They adjust faster than you think: While kittens need lots of socialization and attention, adult cats often settle into their new homes quickly. Many have lived with people before, so they understand routines, household sounds, and how to be a great companion.

Many adult cats are in shelters through no fault of their own, like a change in family circumstances. They’re just waiting for a second chance. With a little time and care, they’ll form deep, lasting bonds with their new forever family.

Pet of the Week

Godiva

While Zeus, his ‘Dad’ Dane, is a dreamer who’s calm and sedate, young Aries arrives at a much faster rate! Named for the God of the Bold and the Bright, he bursts through the door like a streak of pure light. At two years of age, he’s a whirlwind of glee, the most playful Great Dane that you ever did see!

He doesn’t wear sweaters! He doesn’t wear coats! (Though he’d look quite dapper on bicycles or boats.) His fur is a wonder, a Merle-colored dream, with splashes and splotches and grey-silver gleam! He’s a masterpiece pup from his nose to his toes, and he sparkles and shines everywhere that he goes.

If you’re typing a memo or filing a stack, he’ll nudge at your elbow and want a quick snack. He’s energetic! He’s bold! He’s a firework friend! With a spirit for playing that never will end. He has wiggles and giggles and energy to spend, he needs daily adventures that never quite end! A family committed to zoomies and “Stay,” to help this young firecracker find the right way.

Like the ram in the stars, he is ready to lead, to a life full of snacks and the playtime he’ll need! He’s looking for humans… a family… a crew, to love him forever. Could that be with you?
