3 Reasons to Adopt An Adult Cat

Adult cats often get overlooked in favor of kittens, but they have just as much love (and way less chaos) to offer.

Here are 3 reasons to adopt an adult cat:

1. What you see is what you get: No surprises. You’ll know exactly what kind of companion you’re bringing home.

2. They’re lower maintenance: Older cats are litter trained, less destructive, and less likely to climb your curtains at three A.M. They’ve moved past the high-energy kitten phase, so you get to enjoy their calmer, more settled side.

3. They adjust faster than you think: While kittens need lots of socialization and attention, adult cats often settle into their new homes quickly. Many have lived with people before, so they understand routines, household sounds, and how to be a great companion.

Many adult cats are in shelters through no fault of their own, like a change in family circumstances. They’re just waiting for a second chance. With a little time and care, they’ll form deep, lasting bonds with their new forever family.

Pet of the Week

Janis

The dog with plenty of spring in her step, Janis is the girl that comes to mind when we hear the phrase, “age is just a number!”

Janis was rescued at ten years old from the euthanasia list at a local shelter. SNIPSA’s adoption coordinator couldn’t believe it when she saw her on a desperate callout for a rescue partner or new family to take her in. She stepped in just in time to organize a pick-up, and now Janis has a real shot of living out her golden years in bliss.

Spunky and bright, this sweet soul is more than just a couple of grey hairs. Janis loves to run zoomies down the hallway, reach up for tight hugs, and shadow you patiently for snacks. She always has a big smile in her back pocket, and even has a sense of humor, pulling silly faces when she spots a camera! Janis adores her humans and is perfectly potty-trained and crate-trained. We know she was loved once, and we are positive she will be loved again! Out of all the senior dogs we have met, she is a staff favorite.

Will you be the one to give sweet Janis the future she deserves? Place an application to meet her today!
