More about Sugar

Sugar is a dog worth CELEBRATING!

So, let us be the first ones to cheer her on and share her story–

At just weeks old, Sugar was exposed to a serious disease called canine distemper. A fatal disease that is easily preventable with routine vaccines; however, this sweet girl, too young to receive protection from such diseases, was exposed during her stay at a city shelter after an outbreak hit the city of San Antonio.

Sugar’s survival is a true testament to the power of relentless foster love and dedicated care from our director and veterinarian. Not long ago, this sweet pup was battling distemper and was so ill she couldn’t stand or walk. But his foster moms saw a spark in his eyes and worked hard to give her a fighting chance.

With unwavering determination, Sugar received around-the-clock care through handcrafted, vitamin-packed broths that kept her immaculate and guided her through daily physical therapy on exercise balls. Her foster moms never backed down, and their devotion completely changed SNIPSA’s perspective on distemper care.

Now, Sugar in her current foster home is a total success story! She is deeply affectionate and adores people and doggy friends alike.

Sugar, a girl of pure love and might, has the body of a Chihuahua and the ears of a Great Dane. But don’t worry! Sugar won’t grow to the size of a Dane, or anywhere close. Instead, you can expect Sugar to stay petite at or around 15 pounds when she is fully grown. So, won’t you raise a glass, or even better, submit your application? Sugar is definitely worth cheering for!
