Benjamin K. Espy, DVM, DACT

Dr. Espy is an original founder of SNIPSA that received his DVM from Texas A&M University in 1996 and completed a residency in Theriogenology in 2002 from Hagyard Davidson McGee, Lexington, KY – the oldest equine veterinary hospital in the world.  He is now an ambulatory veterinarian in San Antonio and the surrounding area specializing in sports medicine and equine reproduction. He is also licensed to practice acupuncture and uses this form of alternative therapy to complement traditional western medicine.

Dr. Espy is active on many professional boards and currently serves as an animal care consultant for the PRCA, an editor for the Horse Magazine, reviews journal articles for the Educational Programs Committee, and serves on the Ethics and Grievance Committee for the Texas State Board. He has been the head veterinarian for San Antonio’s Stock Show and Rodeo for the past 22 years.

When not crawling underneath horses, Dr. Espy assists SNIPSA performing countless surgeries at their Big Fix clinics, helping with various medical procedures for wayward animals, and supports his wife of 26 years and their four children.

Thanks to you, we’ve accomplished a lot in 2023 so far…but there are still animals that need our help! 💙

Your #GivingTuesday dollars result in adoption events to rehome animals in our care. They pay for proper vetting of all animals that come through our program, from simple matters of fleas and ticks to broken bones that result in costly surgeries. They support our bi-annual Big Fix clinics that spay, neuter, microchip and vaccinate almost 1,000 animals a year. And that`s just the half of it. 🐈‍⬛✂️🐩🐾✨

Since 2006, SNIPSA`s goal has been simple: to find grassroots solutions for grassroots problems. 🐾 By providing rescue, adoption, and offering low-cost spay/neuter options, we are able to connect with our community and enrich the lives of our pet population. 🐈❤️🐕

When you support SNIPSA during #GivingTuesday, you directly fund this goal. Click the link in our bio to GIVE. 🤲

Thank you all for your name suggestions, support on social media and most importantly, your donations! 😍 Little boy is feeling so much better today after his treatment — bouncing around with his toys, whining to play with the other dogs and seeking all the love from our office staff. He has to “quarantine” for just a little while longer, and then he’s HOME FREE! ✨
