When you foster a cat or dog (or even a litter) with SNIPSA, a big part of your role is showing them off.

Creating and sharing content of your foster is crucial because they look their best in a comfortable environment. We want to capture their happiest moments: lounging, playing, and soaking in your love!

We also aim to learn as much as we can about your foster’s personality. Are they good with kids? How about other animals? Do they like their crate? How do they act when newcomers enter your home? These are things future adopters will want to know, and catching them on camera will streamline the process of answering their questions!

From taking cute photos to creating compelling videos to posting on social media, there are many ways for you to market your rescue. Let’s go!

Within your first week of fostering, we would love to hear updates about your foster! It can take three or more days for them to decompress in a new environment, but if that happens faster–GREAT! We want to see their progress.

Please update us by sending a write-up, candid photos, and a few videos.

It’s best to take all of your photos and videos in landscape orientation (hold your phone sideways) so our team can easily integrate your content into our media channels.

If you forget and take them in portrait orientation, that’s okay! We can use this format for social media posts.

If you’ve had your foster for more than week or two, our media team will reach out to you for new portraits. Time to channel your inner photographer! Choose a clean background like your couch or bed (avoid trash cans, cords, cars, shoes, leashes, and other distractors) and shoot for 3-4 dynamically different photos. Most importantly, make sure your foster feels comfortable. We want to see upright ears and happy faces.

Bonus points: include an extra group photo of your foster hanging out with their favorite furry “sibling,” your child, or YOU!

Do you have a creative idea for social media? Want to bring your foster to your annual holiday party? Or is your foster just not getting adopted? 🙁 Bring them by the office and we’ll fit them with a cute costume. Then, you can start snapping away! A little flair goes a long way in helping your foster stand out.

Our media team may also ask for videos in their follow-up! Please send over 4 to 5 30-second clips that we can edit together for a segment on our website and YouTube channel called “Catch My Clips.”

Offer your foster toys, treats, or even a car ride to grab a pup cup in your video clips! The more creative and interactive, the better.

You can also edit your videos if you have a specific vision, though this isn’t required. If you do, please send us the MP4 file so we can upload your video to our SNIPSA channel.

SNIPSA has thousands of followers on social media, so posting foster content is a great way to get your foster seen by the masses!

Tag us on Facebook @SNIPSA Inc. or add us as a collaborator/tag us in your stories on Instagram @snipsatx.

Some fosters even go so far as to make new accounts to showcase their animals! Check them out on our social media pages if you need inspiration.

Last but not least, don’t forget to send your content over to us so we can use it in web advertisements, social media promotions, and more.

Thank you and happy fostering!
