About Me
If you’re looking for the perfect Lady, we’ve got her right here! SNIPSA rescued this little red Chihuahua off the city’s euthanasia list just hours before her time. Lady had been surrendered to the local shelter as she had a large ulcerated mass on her chest, and her owners didn’t have the resources to care for her. So, we took Lady under our wing and started to tackle her medical needs. She had surgery to remove the large mass on her chest and also an unexpected benign tumor in her spleen. While we were able to remove both tumors, Lady has since developed several more mast cell tumors. Unfortunately, these tumors are not very responsive to chemotherapy so we have decided to provide Lady with the best life we can while she is with us. While we know it is somewhat of a tall ask, we are hopeful we can find a special person willing to love on her the duration of her earthly life.
Currently, Lady is doing fantastic in her foster home. We have learned she loves to fetch and is her foster mom’s perfect shadow. She is very loyal to her chosen person but isn’t afraid to branch out and make new friends. Lady does well with cats and other dogs though being a Chihuahua she can be a little bossy:) Lady uses her special stairs to get up on the couch and she has a cozy spot that she has claimed at the foot of the bed. She is eager to join in on car rides for trips around town and will happily peek out the window to watch passing cars. With her confident and loving disposition, Lady would make a great travel buddy or work-from-home companion. She is currently taking a regiment of antacids and steroids to manage the mast cell tumors. So don’t scowl when you see she is a little on the chubby side. It’s just a crummy side effect of the prednisone. But in the end, it’s just more Chihuahua to love! 💜
Lady is one of our favorites–she is a blessing and deserves a blessing. We only want the best for her. Please consider opening your heart to this special girl.

Never underestimate how important it is that all of our parts work! 🫣🐕 In the last month, SNIPSA has managed to acquire two dogs with rare ectopic ureters. For those of you that have no idea what this is - it occurs when the ureter does not properly tie into the bladder and instead bypasses the bladder and goes straight into the urethra, causing the dog to leak urine continuously. Of course that doesn’t make a dog very adoptable and surgery is the only viable option. We are pleased to share that Dr. Esterline with STVS was able to perform her magic and fix both of these wonderful souls. No more discolored fur, smelly parts, doggie diapers, pet discomfort, and “Woody” and “Dorothy” can now be the lap dogs they were designed to be. We are forever grateful for the care provided by Dr. Esterline and her team and for giving our rescues the life they deserve. 🌹💜🩷And of course, if you’re up for donating, even a few dollars to their hospital bills, we would also appreciate the support!!! I’m known round these parts as Miss Texas, and I’m looking for a new family. I have an easygoing, cheerful nature that leads me to get along with everything and everyone. Ideally, my adopters will have lots of snuggles to offer, and a few other pets/kids for me to rough n’ tumble with. Right now, my favorite activities are playing with the pups in my foster home and cozying up in front of the TV. I’ve also got some basic commands under my belt according to my foster mama! I will come when called, sit on command and walk perfectly on my leash. I am always ready to please my folks…treats are just a yummy bonus. Another small brag of mine is that I load up perfectly in the car. Yup–I’ll gladly join you on any adventure. So, if you want a dog who is as sweet as sunshine, apply to take me home! ☀️🌵

Well, we’ve got our very own Napoleon Dynamite in the building. Meet Scout! 💗 Just like Napoleon, Scout can be a little shy on the approach, but he was born to be in the spotlight. He loves attention, walks, treats and–more than anything–his people! In his foster home, Scout hasn’t wasted any time bonding with his foster family. He is a perfect shadow, following his foster mom everywhere she goes with enthusiasm. This little busybody also enjoys his “walkies” where he can feel the grass on his paws. Not to mention, he’s perfectly house-trained, which makes that outside time extra special! 🌱
One thing to note about Scout is that he is thought to have been hit by a car at some point in his life, resulting in a luxated hip. He underwent a femoral head ostectomy to repair it, resulting in a slightly higher adoption fee. While Scout has been through a lot in his two years, he has a happy and healthy future just ahead. 🤞 He recently made his debut at the King William Parade where he stole more than just a few hearts. Double the parades made for double the fun this Fiesta weekend!!! 👑🐕🦺🪅 Saturday morning, our rescues were walked, carried and given allll the kisses during the King William Parade. Our Shoe litter also made their debut at Therapy Animals of San Antonio’s 26th Annual Pooch Parade! We had such a great time partying with our San Antonio community, showing off our pups and selling the last of our 2024 Fiesta medals. A HUGE thank you to the staff and volunteers who rose at the crack of dawn to spread some puppy love! 😄💗🐾
