At just 11 months old, this Chihuahua mix has already perfected the art of the silent critique. We first spotted him at Animal Care Services, where his intake photo featured a look so comically skeptical we knew we had to bring him into our program. Naturally, the “J” in his name originally stood for “Judgy”—and he wore the title with pride! But don’t let those initial side-eyes fool you. Mr. Jay has officially traded his skepticism for snuggles, and he is ready to find a forever couch where he can finally let his guard down for good.

Now that he is settled into foster care, he has proven that underneath that hilariously stern exterior lies a total sweetie with a larger-than-life personality. He warms up to his humans remarkably quickly, becoming a loyal, affectionate, and truly lovable companion. He is also a fantastic roommate who has been completely fine sharing his space with the resident cats.

This clever little guy is currently showing off just how smart he is in his foster home. He is already 80% housebroken and handles his freedom beautifully, having passed the ultimate test by not chewing a single thing that wasn’t a toy in weeks—though he does highly recommend a good Nylabone. He is eager to learn and is currently undergoing proper puppy training, proving himself to be a devoted little partner who is quick to watch over his “people.”
