Piper came to SNIPSA from Lockhart County ready to find her forever home. She was a shelter favorite and volunteers worked tirelessly to find her rescue placement. This sweetie is mild-mannered and well-behaved. She is housebroken, leash trained and fits right into her foster home with the other resident dogs. She has mastered the doggy door and spends hours on her dog bed basking in the sun. Piper absolutely LOVES humans, too, but she isn’t overly co-dependent. She is trustworthy and can be left for long periods of time alone without incident. Affectionate and ladylike, she will hang out by your feet without any intention of jumping up on your furniture. She is also a stellar co-pilot during car rides. Sound like the ideal dog yet? 💗
For those not familiar with the Coonhound breed—they were historically used for tracking! These dogs have an incredible sense of smell and may end up right next to you at the dinner table, waiting for a scrap or two. They like exploring the outdoors as well, though we are convinced Piper is quite comfortable with being an indoor dog. She would make an amazing addition to any family as she is just as meek towards children as she is towards adults. She would thrive in a single or multidog household, and enjoy simply being a part of your world. 🏡

This San Antonio special might not be purebred, but she sure has a pure heart. As a Cattle Dog mix, you can anticipate Mantis to be full of energy, brains and loyalty. Originally bred as herding dogs, Cattle Dogs benefit from having a job to do so it is important that these pups are both mentally and physically stimulated. Update on Mr. Fish Stick!!!!🐈🐈 🙏🎊🙌Just a little over a week ago, this sweet kitten was found with a significant wound to his belly and had a difficult time bearing weight in his rear legs. He most likely had a run in with a dog that left him the “undercat.” We sewed him up, started him on antibiotics, and provided cage rest to heal his broken pelvis. Now this little hero is running around as if nothing ever happened – batting around his collection of stuffed mice, basking in the sunshine, and eating like a champion. There’s a reason for the adage that CATS HAVE NINE LIVES!!! Fish Stick wasn’t about to “disappoint.”
