She’s a Tejano sensation who has stolen the hearts of everyone at SNIPSA! That’s right–the one and only SELENA is in the building! This darling Doberman and her five puppies were initially rescued by Animal Care Services and swiftly transferred to our rescue. Immediately, she and her tiny tunes revealed themselves to be superstars. This group of musical mutts is confident, friendly and oh-so-happy! Selena, just like her musical counterpart, has a big, brilliant smile that never falters. She greets any new person with gentle exuberance and a wagging tail. So far, we have learned that she knows to do her business outside, she walks well on her leash and she doesn’t seem to mind the company of cats or other dogs. As a three-year-old “Dobie,” this sweet singer has already reached her full size, though she may put on a few additional pounds now she’s found some stability. That said, Doberman Pinschers are well-known in movies and TV for their muscular, trim build and sleek appearance. Historically bred to be guard dogs, they are also often praised for their high intelligence and trainability. They are loyal, affectionate and driven in whatever task they are trained to do. As a result, they make excellent candidates for obedience, agility and other dog sports. In Selena’s new home, we know that she will thrive with daily structure, exercise and of course–plenty of LOVE! We’ll do anything for Salinas, and so should you! 🐟 PET OF THE WEEK 🐟
Hi guys! I’m sure you’ve heard of an underdog, but what about an undercat? 😼 Well, if you’re looking for an example of one, you’re staring right at it! After an unfortunate run-in with a canine, it might be easy to assume I did not come out as the victor. Well, that assumption would be correct. Bearing my battle wounds as I stumbled into a Good Samaritan’s backyard, I was thankfully spotted and rescued. After a quick visit with the SNIPSA medical staff, it was discovered that in addition to the slash across my belly, I also had a broken pelvis. Don’t worry though! It wasn’t long after I was sewn up and had a few days of cage rest and antibiotics that I was already feeling better! ❤️🩹 Now, I spend my days running around as if nothing ever happened. I enjoy batting around my collection of stuffed mice, basking in the sunshine and—of course—eating! Thank goodness that cats have nine lives right? We said goodbye to our two favorite girls this afternoon!! 🥲💖 Tiff and Tori, two kittens that have been in our vet tech’s care since they were just days old, were adopted together. We are so glad they get to spend forever in each other’s company. 🐾💞🐾 Such a BITTERSWEET day!
